HOW DID NEW TECHNOLOGY

FAIR IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2009!?

Article by: Christopher Winston, XR The Magazine Staff Writer

It's the end of the first quarter of 2009. So what’s up with all that new technology that was supposed to catapult us further into the technological abyss of faster now? Let’s take a look.

After only a short time on the scene, the days of silicon are about to draw to a near end to make way for a new age, the Polymer Age. Scientists are developing a way to actually print circuits from an inkjet printer using polymer ink, meaning electronics that are not only flexible but also less wasteful and way cheaper.

The technology has already been put to use as screens that actually fold up when they're not being used, tablecloths that change designs, and even wallpaper that provides both decoration and light to the room. In fact, Dutch scientists have already made a bulbless lamp. Unfortunately, this technology won't be out for a couple of years, but it's still something to watch out for.

Last year Xander Magazine touched upon some of the games that would come out this year. One of the games that have already come out is Killzone 2. As players of the first game would expect, Killzone 2 is only for Playstation 3. Another game that has come out this year is Resident Evil 5. As expected, the black girl survived the final cut and is going to be a playable character. In this one, Chris Redfield is back and has been sent to Africa to combat Umbrella. By the way, is anyone else wondering where in the village do the villagers go to get gas-powered chainsaws? Or is it just me?

The HTC Touch Duo has come to the States. For those who don't follow cell phones, the HTC Touch Duo has both a full-size touch screen and a slide-out thumb keyboard, so you don't have to choose which one you want. As for the iPhone, there's some speculation of evidence of a new model found in the beta iPhone 3.0 firmware, right in the binary code. Not only is there evidence for a new iPhone, but also new iTouches. The new models are expected to come out in June, right when the new 3.0 firmware is supposed to come out. Coincidence?  Maybe...or maybe not.

So there you have it! An update on some of the new technology in the first quarter of 2009. Hopefully Steve Jobs will come out with the new iPhone and iTouch in June, but the only way to find out is to keep reading (okay, so there'd probably be a commercial or something, but keep reading anyway!).

BUY IT OR BOOTLEG IT?

Article By: Felicia Winston, XR The Magazine Editor-In-Chief

Fast cars, faster women, tragic love story, daring stunts, friendship rivalry, high speed chases, hard hits, desert chases, mountain climbing (from the inside out), and justice. Sounds familiar? Well it should. Keeping in true Fast & Furious style, Fast & Furious 4.3 does not disappoint. The fourth in a series of high-voltage, high-speed film, reunites Vin Deisel and Paul Walker ending up where it all started: the streets of Los Angeles. The murder of one of the main characters brings fugitive Dom Toretto (Diesel) and FBI special agent Brian O’Conner (Walker) back together again, reuniting a five-year-old feud. The two men are forced to work together to take down a common foe, the Mexican drug cartel boss Braga (John Ortiz). But to do so, they must overcome past betrayals and learn to trust one another again. That and they’ll need to be able to drive very, very fast. What else did you expect? Some movie critics have said the film lacks substance but makes up for it with the testosterone jolting action F&F has come to be known for. I say it touches on each emotion that same as we humans do today; here today gone tomorrow with only the lasting effects of how excited we became during the moment. Let’s face it, movies like this are becoming more and more popular because they actually embody what we have come to know and love, superficiality at its best. (Yes, I superficiality). I came to see an action packed thriller with a little heart and that’s what I got. No more no less. I was cheering when the bad guys were killed, cussing when the bad guys were getting the best of the good guys, jeering at the pugilistic skills of Vin (and all those muscles. Whew), sad when the …… dies (Oh you thought I was going to tell you? Ha), and happy when …… I left out of there with a smile on my face as if time had transported me back to a place where I received no bills. Yes, it’s like that.

For this one I would say BUY IT!!!!!. Don’t risk the chance of getting a bad copy from your local “Black Buster” Dealer unless he has HD copies.
