TERMINATOR 4: SALVATION
BUY IT OR BOOTLEG
IT?
Thanks to 106.5 The Beat Radio station
here in Richmond, VA, I attended the sneak preview of T4 last week before it
was released to the general public. No red carpet or paparazzi of course,
but I got to see it before it was released so I’m happy. Without telling my
age, I was privy to see the first installment of the Terminator series 25
years ago. I have seen all of the Terminators over the years and aside from
the eye candy of Christian Bale and new comer Aussie Sam Worthington my
interest was the anticipation of the action and not the story line. I think
it lacked “substance”, unlike all of the other Terminators that packed
action and an interesting story line. So here is what it’s about.
The
fourth installment of the Terminator series, which was revived in 2003 after
a 12-year break, is set in post-apocalyptic 2018, and John Connor (Christian
Bale) is the man destined to lead the human resistance against an army of
Terminators. But the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a
stranger whose last memory is of being on death row, dramatically alters
Connor's plans and he now has to decide whether Wright has been sent from
the future, or from the past. Meanwhile, as Skynet, a fictional computer
network that runs the Terminators, prepares its final attack, Connor and
Wright embark on a journey into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they
uncover a threat of annihilation for all humanity.
The movie
was a “no brainer watch” that played to the primal human nature of wanting
to see action, blood, gore, and some making out. The only senses that I
needed to use was sight, sound, and the ability to say “get him”.
Based on
the story line I would Boot Leg It!! Based on the action I would want to see
it on a big screen so I would say Buy IT!! Of course, if you have a big
screen at home, visit your nearest Black Buster Rep and cop that!!
