Why we Rock!

There’s an old saying it’s not what you know it’s WHO you know,…well in the music business it’s a little bit of both. To get work as an audio engineer, or music producer, it’s WHO YOU KNOW and WHAT YOU KNOW. For over A decade, Nomega Recording Studio's Film & Audio Institute has been breaking students into the music business.  Our students go to class in real recording studios where they learn under a master audio engineer in one-on-one sessions in REAL RECORDING STUDIOS. By training this way our students are meeting bands, music producers, classically trained musicians, session players, audio engineers, rock stars, music business executives and studio owners…all while they learn. This enables them to make the connections they need for paid employment while they train, instead of having to network after they graduate from college.  From day one at the Nomega Recording Studio's Film & Audio Institute you will be meeting the people that can get you work…

AUDIO ENGINEERING CAREERS IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS

Audio engineering is a part of audio science dealing with the recording and reproduction of sound through mechanical and electronic means. The field draws on many disciplines, including electrical engineering, acoustics, psychoacoustics, and music. Unlike acoustical engineering, audio engineering does not deal with noise control or acoustical design. An audio engineer is closer to the creative and technical aspects of audio rather than formal engineering. An audio engineer must be proficient with different types of recording media, such as analog tape, digital multitrack recorders and workstations, and computer knowledge. With the advent of the digital age, it is becoming more and more important for the audio engineer to be versed in the understanding of software and hardware integration from synchronization to analog to digital transfers. - wikipedia

Some well know sound engineers include: Eddie Karmer, Phil Ramone, Steve Albini, Roger Nichols, Bill Porter, Al Schmitt and George Massenburg.

Audio engineers operate mixing consoles, microphones, signal processors, tape machines, digital audio workstations, sequencing software and speaker systems.  Commonly, an audio engineer is responsible for the technical aspects of a sound recording session or other audio production, and works together with a record producer or director, although the engineer's role may also be integrated with that of the producer.
